Q&A With Fashion Savant & Celebrity Stylist Spry Lee Scott

Now with a new look, Spry Lee Scott is set to catapult to the top of the worlds of fashion and entertainment. Soon to become a household name, he is ready to offer the best services such as styling tips, fashion commentary and beauty enhancements (makeovers) to the universe. His goal is to make the world beautiful, one makeover at a time!

BOYT: What are five things you think that every woman should own?

SPRY: 1.Spanx (Forget diamonds! This is woman’s new BFF!), 2. A bra that fits, 3. Double-sided tape, 4.A full-length mirror (can’t believe some people still don’t own one), 5. Heels (flat shoes are evil!)

BOYT: What would you add to our checklist of the season-less classics every woman can wear day-to-evening, summer-to-fall, year after year after year?

SPRY: Women should own at least one camel-colored cashmere sweater. It’s a color that looks great on everyone. I would add chunky jewelry to the list as well. Many women would be surprised how the right accessories can make or break an outfit; it really helps to jazz up any look. Also, fitted tank tops in black, white and (your) skin tone. They’re always great for layering, and can be worn under almost anything.

BOYT: If confidence is the sexiest trait a women can have, what role does our personal style play?

SPRY: Confidence comes from being comfortable in our own skin. The better you feel about the way you look, the greater your self-esteem.

BOYT: What tips can you give women to help them dress with confidence?

SPRY: The best tip that I can offer is to begin with the right foundation. How women feel about the way they look in their clothing starts with the way they look under them. Women will be surprised at how much of a difference changing their undergarments can make.

BOYTWhat is the sexiest thing a woman can wear?

SPRY: Heels! They can instantly change the way you look in an outfit. When I’m dressing my (female) clients, the look is never approved until she steps into her heels.

BOYT: You wouldn’t go into summer without doing what?

SPRY: I wouldn’t go into the summer without putting in extra time at the gym. When you shed your winter layers, some of those extra pounds gained should come off too. Seeing the results from a goal that you set is a good feeling. This makes you want to show off all of your hard work by wearing clothes that are more body-conscious.

BOYT: On developing a personal style: Some have it and some don’t. What advice can you give to those who are trying to discover and tailor their style?

SPRY: This is something I’m often asked. If you don’t have the luxury of a personal shopper or stylist to help you with this, I say “hit the stores!” Try on EVERYTHING that comes in your size. Take notes of what fits you well and be specific. Ask yourself what you “like” or “dislike” about a garment. (Having a friend or two with you also helps.) Pay more attention to dressing your body type than what’s trendy. This will help you build a wardrobe that is timeless. I know this seems a bit taxing, but it will pay off in the end. Once we tap into our own sense of style, dressing is no longer a chore.

BOYT: Some people have their favorite wardrobe colors and some don’t. What is the easiest trick you know for determining what looks best on us?

SPRY: I generally look at the skin’s undertone, and work from there. (There are four basic colors: red, pink, yellow/golden, and olive.) I also look at the color of the hair and eyes, and choose what colors best compliment them. Stay away from colors that wash you out, and gravitate towards those that make your skin “pop”! For women who are clueless to how this works, I would advise visiting a makeup counter (like MAC). The professionals there should be able to help you select color palettes that best flatter you.

BOYT: We talk about the little things we can do in our lives, everyday, to live our best day, and ultimately, our best life. Dressing, an everyday task, is a huge part of that. It’s also a notoriously frustrating task to many women. How can we make it a little easier – even fun?

SPRY: KISS… KEEP IT SIMPLE SISTER. Know (or learn) what looks good on you, and don’t venture too far from that.
